Aussie Kids Boutique

Two blog entries in one day, what is going on you might think?  Well its just my excitement, Kathryn from All You Need has given us a little feature on one of her blogs - Aussie Kids Boutique.   Thank you so much Kathryn, I love reading your blog!   Kathryn has featured my “Summer Fizz” set of bows.

Today also saw  Ribbonista launch our collaboration auction with Cute Tooshies on OZeBaby, Vanessa has made the most splendid boutique Jumper Dress and Capri Pant Set, we have called it Sweet Cherry Delight!

This dress features appliqued cherries on the apron, matching cherry cuff panels on the capri pant cuffs and lots of ruffles for twirling fun.   The outfit has two made to match Ribbonista “Sweet Cherry Delight” Boutique Bows.  The bows are made from the highest quality grosgrain ribbons, heat sealed and stiffened for lost lasting beauty.

Great Down Under Nappy Hunt

Well, the blog, has been quiet as I have been madly running around getting ready to become a sponsor of the Great Down Under Nappy Hunt.   You may ask why is Ribbonista sponsors a cloth nappy hunt? There are many answers to that question, but the main reason is that it is great fun.  The nappy hunt is virtual scavenger hunt is to introduce consumers to the wonderful WAHMs that are “out there”, and many new products!

Ribbonista is proud to sponsor this event, which will run September 1-30, 2008. I will be releasing a great number of products through the month, so stay tuned to the blog and look out for your newsletters for special  updates for the next few weeks.

Bow cards

Finally after many weeks of waiting my bow cards have arrived, which means many hours of happily packaging my bows, pins and other things.  A very big squeal of delight greeted their arrival on my doorstep, poor Jeremy was on the other end of the phone at the time… oops!

What does this mean for my blog readers, it means that you are the first know that the bobby pins will be available for sale on Wednesday, which is Imogens 5th Birthday!   We are going to celebrate by giving away a special set of these new bobby pins, for every blog comment from now until WEDNESDAY, when I will draw a name at random for this set.

The hunter gatherer????

Well the blog as been quiet for a while as I have hunting and gathereing a range of things together.   I have been sorting through my supplies in search of some inspiration for our next stocking.  Hunting down things that have disappeared from little hands wandering away with them and gathering them into a more secure location.

This blog post might sound or read a little strange as I am still coming down from the glue fumes that have been filling my workspace.   Copious amounts of glue has been used in the production in another lot of bobby pins. These particular pins feature butterflies, hearts, dogs, cats, paws, stars and fun geometric patterns.

Well I hope to have more to tell you later in the week ;).

Chibobo Kids 2008

As a part of the modern cloth nappy community I was lucky to see and meet Kate, Tupperware queen and modern cloth diva, who is the driving force behind an appeal for an orphanage in Chibobo, Zambia. In 2005 and 2006 Kate organised and ran an appeal to raise some much needed funds for the orphans of Chibobo in Zambia. Kate combined with other work at home parents, managed to raise $1000 and $2000 in each of those years respectively.  This is where Ribbonista comes in, I will be donating a special Ribbonista set for auction on OZeBaby, all proceeds will directly to support the orphanage.

This year, we are raising the bar a little and hoping to smash through the $2000 mark with ease.

Kate has had an enormous response from our small community, and has said that she feels so lucky to have had so many small businesses and individuals offer to help us out this year. You can find links to these stores at the Chibobo Kids blog.,

This year our appeal runs from 17 - 30 July. Please help me by visiting my OZEBABY auction to help out the children of Chibobo.

If you would like to make a donation, please email chibobo08@gmail.com for information on how to do so.

The Makers Markets

Today, I braved the frosty Melbourne weather to see all the lovely people at the Makers markets!  Such a great community feeling at these markets.  I wasn’t expecting to see a lot of foot traffic I was amazed to see more than my fair share of people and customers, so to everyone who stopped in and said hello,  as well as those who bought today, THANK YOU!

Also my little satelite store at OZeBaby is now open, with the first in the series of the big bows!  I will randomly be stocking some more product over the next few weeks, including bow and Headband sets, and maybe the first release of bobby pins.

Thanks everyone for your continuing support of my little business.

Bobby Pin Bliss

The Ribbonista household is filled with a dreamy bliss as I put together some bobby pins, yes a brand new product, that will available soon!   So much fun and so very cute, a  great gift for those who don’t want something big and bold on!  Today has been really productive as I have put together more stock for OZeBaby and this weekends upcoming market.   I have sent the bobby pins that I made yesterday off to testers, so they can get a full work out prior to sale, ;).   I even managed to get Imogens hair done nicely and photograph  her with her brand new “Hula Girl” bow.   Please feel free to leave comment, to let me know if there is something that I can do for you or to improve things at Ribbonista.

Another Sneak peek

Well it is Sunday morning in the Ribbonista household and I am putting together more stock for OZeBaby, along with my daily challenge bow.   I have a goal this month to complete at least one bow per day for every day this month, some will be for Ribbonista and some will be for my daughter, who keeps asking when she will get hers! Ok onto the sneek peek!

Watsonia Markets

Today, I went and had a lovely morning at the Watsonia Markets, which is run to benefit my local neighbourhood house.  It is a great little community market with lots of variety in the stalls, from trash & treasure to knitted woollie items and Creative Memories.  Actually the Creative Memories stall is run by my neighbour and friend Lesley Sanders who gave me the idea about this little market. I had the chance to meet a lot of lovely customers and stallholders!  These are some pictures of my little stall and I hope to see you at my next market on the 13th Jul 08, at the Abbotsford Convent!
